“Boys will be boys” is a common phrase that has been used throughout the years describing the behavior of males. Rarely, if ever, have people said or heard of “girls will be girls.” Typically, people might argue that females are better listeners and do what is assigned, thus feminizing the schools. Aside from this belief, boys can also show obedience during class time. Garibaldi states that, “it is boys’ aggressive and rationalist nature - redefined by educators as a behavioral disorder - that’s getting so many of them in trouble in the feminized schools” (Garibaldi 536). It is not that women are doing better in the education system of today, but boys are doing worse than what they have done in the past. Not only does it change the boys’ learning system, but it helps the teachers adjust their teaching style to help boys stay interested and focused (Mullins). “There is evidence that mixed classrooms can discriminate against either boys or girls depending on the subject, the gender of the teacher, the teacher's methodologies, and the prevailing culture in the school” (Mullins). Most of the time, girls are favored by both male and female teachers, being typical suck-ups.
