I was pleasantly surprised to learn Thomas was born in California. In fact, he was born in, “Placerville, California January 19, 1958” (Kinkade & Barnett 10). Not being one to give up, when he created a work he did not care for he would repaint it until it was a work of sheer perfection. By the time he was in his middle teens Thomas Kindkade was “an accomplished painter in oil under the apprenticeship of the well-known artist Glen Wessels” (Kinkade & Barnett 43). To further his art and master his craft Kinkade enrolled in the University of California at Berkeley. He also attended the prestegious Art Center College of Design in Pasedena California where he learned to further prepare himeself, influence, create, and make a positive impact using his talent. After graduating, Kinkade and one of his close schoolmates decided to take a fun summer trip to New York. As they travelled the two of them created many sketches of the things they saw on the way. Trees, hills, mountainsides, people, cities and lakes became embeded on canvas and were peremently frozen in
