The Crisis, by Thomas Paine, was a captivating and moving piece that was written during the American Revolution. During the time of December 1776 the war was in favor of the British army. The American troops have lost their fate and will to keep dying for the countries they so desire. All that changed when George Washington discovered Paine’s writing of the “The Crisis” and found it to be motivating enough to be read to all the troops, and give them the strength to proceed to victory. In the article it states “…but if we believe the power of hell to be limited, we must likewise believe that their agents are under some providential control.” Paine was a religious man who believed king George III was an agent of the devil. He gave the devil
