Thoreau and Martin Luther King were both Civil Rights activists and they each played a huge role in the Civil Rights movement. The Letter from Birmingham Jail by Martin Luther King and
Resistance to Civil Government by Henry David Thoreau have many similarities. But they also have differences.
Let’s get started with similarities they both argued we should be allowed the right to disobey authority if it is socially injustice. They both say that civil disobedience is needed. Also both of their letters were meant for a large audience and not just specific people they were meant for the general public. Both essays are meant to help improve the world.
