My grandpa, Tilfred Donovan Bue was a very important person to many people. He had eight kids including my mom. Of those eight, he only got two boys. He grew up in Minneapolis and Clarkfield. After moving to Minneapolis he decided he missed the country and moved back to Clarkfield to raise his children with my grandma, Eunice Bue. My grandpa lived a successful but short and hard life with all of his tragedies he experienced. His family consisted of strict Lutherans so he went to church every Sunday to keep the Sabbath day holy. Even though his dad was a drunk and made him drink alcohol, some of his fondest memories were when his dad pulled him out of school to go fishing with him because those were his dad’s good days. He was 100% Norwegian so they ate a lot of lutefisk and lefse. They enjoyed playing on a Carrom board and joining in on football, baseball in the summer, and pond hockey in the winter. He enjoyed all sports and participated in football, baseball, hockey, and wrestling. He even knocked out one of his teeth with a hockey puck. They later got married and lived happily on the same farm he grew up on. They rebuilt the barn that his dad died in, he owned cattle that he milked twice a day. They soon had eight kids to help with all of the farm work, there is twenty years between my oldest aunt, Wendy and my mom. In between there is Bev, Kristy, Kathy, Phyllis, Joel, and Wade. So the house was never too full, but christmas was crazy. My mom was a very young aunt and both my grandma and grandpa have many grandchildren, sadly I was not able to meet my grandpa because he ended up dying when my mom was
