Name: Brooke Flemming
Causative Agent: Tinea pedis
Disease: Athletes foot

Classification of the causative agent:
Tinea pedis is a dermatophyte fungus of the skin.

History:
In the past, scientists believed that athlete’s foot was caused by insect bites. It wasn't until scientists discovered microorganisms in the early 1900s and then later, dermatophytes were discovered.

Virulence factors of the causative agent:
Fungal virulence is the result of interaction between the infecting organism and the host. During dermatophyte infection, cell-mediated immunity is widely considered to be responsible for modulating dermatophyte disease and fungal antigens activate T-suppressor and T-helper cells.

Mode of transmission:
Athlete’s foot is spread

History:
Ringworm is an infection caused by a fungus. It is called ringworm because it causes a ring-shaped, red, itchy rash on the skin.

Fungal virulence is the result of interaction between the infecting organism and the host. During dermatophyte infection, cell-mediated immunity is widely considered to be responsible for modulating dermatophyte disease and fungal antigens activate T-suppressor and T-helper cells.

Mode of transmission:
Tinea corporis can spread easily. You can catch it if you come into direct contact with an area of ringworm on someone's body. You can also get it by touching items that have the fungi on them.

Incubation Period of the Disease:
For ring worm, the incubation period can range from 4 – 10 days depending on where the ringworm occurs on the body. With ringworm of the beard and scalp, the symptoms will usually appear within 10 – 14 days after exposure.

Signs and Symptoms:
The classic lesion is annular, oval, or circular. It is minimally inflamed, with a sharply defined papulovesicular border and often with some central
