Titian’s full name is Tiziano Vecellio or Tiziano Vecelli, he was born in Pieve Di Cadore, Italy 1488-1490 despite the traditional date of his birth as 1477. Titian was the son of Gregorio Di Conte Dei Vecelli, a modest official, and his wife Lucia. He was born in a small village of Pieve Di Cadore which was located in the mountain peaks of the Alps which was at the straight north of Venice and not far off the Austrian Tyrol. At the age of nine, he and his brother went to reside in Venice with an uncle and become an apprentice to a master of mosaics called Sebastiano Zuccato.
