Comparison paper. During all 3 of these books we see something in common with all, and that thing is the symbol of hope and life within all 3 books. Throughout each book you see something resembling hope and how they keep hope throughout the book. Everybody is trusting and relying on one thing and that’s what I’m gonna be explaining, hope it is the one thing that helps them.
In the glass castle, the characters begin to lose innocence as they keep going on the run. You see the innocence left behind Jeanette as she grows up, the kids don’t live a normal life. They continue growing up around the wrong things and you can see that and these kids begin to believe what their parents think or say because that’s all they know, is to trust them and listen to them only. You see these kids grow up around alcohol and fighting and around just bad things. The kids go some days without eating, they have to fend for themselves because their parents don’t do anything but paint and drink and gamble.

You see kids like Jack choose violence because he wants to survive and others begin to follow because of the fear they have. Most of these kids grew up because of fear that was inside of them, fear played a huge role in the Lord of the Flies where every kid was so scared that they did anything just to feel safe. The kids felt threatened by anything that could be dangerous and wanted it dead, but yet they were still worried and scared. Fear was never anything on the outside, it was all on the inside of them. These kids were alone and scared of everything, and that’s why they had to grow up because they didn’t have anyone there to protect them or give them that feeling of
