For example when he cried happy tears and showed the emotion of gratitude, “Atticus’s eyes filled with tears.” This is him being so grateful for the gift he was given that it brought tears to his eyes. Another example is when he was trying to be serious but couldn’t help but smile, “Atticus tried hard not to smile but couldn’t help it.” Atticus shows many other emotions but those were the top two.
The last trait that many people wish they possess today is his ability to stay calm even under pressure. For example, when in the courtroom Mayella was at the witness stand and Atticus remained calm and asked a question after Mayella got angry because she thought he was making fun of her, “You makin’ fun o’ me agin, Mr.Finch?” “Do you love your father, Miss Mayella?” He stayed calm even though she was irritated at him. Another example is when he was talking to Mr.Ewell and even though Mr.Ewell was being rude and difficult he kept his cool and stayed calm.
In conclusion Atticus is a very good man. He is a great role model for the kids and he is determined. He stays focused and he states the facts and doesn’t hesitate to speak his mind. He has many traits that are admirable. Harper Lee did a fantastic job of creating this father figure in the book. Atticus is full of different characteristics some obvious and some hidden.
