Scout, the narrator, provides a brief description of Maycomb County, Alabama, and the main characters of the story, including her father Atticus Finch, her brother Jem, and the neighbors. The story starts with the first summer that Scout and Jem meet Dill, a little boy from Mississippi, who spends the summers with his aunt. The children are scared of the neighbor Boo Radley who lives across the street. Dill goes back to Mississippi after the summertime ended. Scout was happy about being in first grade. Scout got into a lot of fights in the playground .
This chapter has a lot of detailed descriptions about the setting and the characteristics of the people in the book. It is a very interesting book to read and you can never put the book down.
