This quote is important it signifies the reader that this beam the bird made him hold up is challenging,especially with him being as skinny and fragile as he is at that point in time and it gets to him. But the one thing he draws all his thoughts too is how the bird can’t break him and that he is stronger and he channels all that anger to look the bird in the face and hold the beam up for thirty seven minutes until the bird attacks him out of frustration.

This quote is important because it is the beginning of Louise PTSD because it was his first time back with his family and they thought it was special to play his record of his broadcast because that's when they knew he was still alive but Louie didn't want to be reminded of it or think about it and he lasehd out by yelling at Sylvia to take it off and to smash and that’s when it kinda seemed that he wasn’t ok emotionally and he couldn't take it all in because it was a really hard time for him.
