The main area that other countries wanted to take over was Africa and parts of Asia that contained raw materials which was a high interest to countries back then. The increase of competition to obtain land helped pushed nations to get into war with one another. A third reason for entry into the war was militarism. During the 1914s, Germany had the greatest increase in military power. Great Britain and Germany had both amplified their naval forces. Russia and Germanys military forces had a great influence on the public to get them to do, say, and vote for their best interests. A fourth reason that influenced entrance into WWI is nationalism. When Serbian nationalist terrorist group, named the Black Hand, attempted to assassinate the archduke but failed. A man by the name of Gavrilo Princip killed Ferdinand and his wife in Sarajevo, Bosnia which was part of Austria-Hungary.
