Tobacco has more than 4000 substances in it. Nicotine is one of these chemicals in tobacco which makes its user addicted to it. Also, Nicotine can affect the human body by speeding up the nervous system. Smokers feel more energized due to smoking tobacco. When people try to quit smoking, they experience the withdrawal effect. Many health problems are associated with smoking due to the fact that it alters how the body is working. There are about 480,000 deaths related to smoking every year in the United States. Smoking can lead to health problems with the human lungs and heart. Tobacco is against the pharmaceutical stores’ mission to help people’s health. The author’s credibility and reputation are very well established. Shalom Jacobovitz, the author of the article, “Tobacco Kills”, Chief Executive Officer of the American College of Cardiology that works to enhance the health of the population by educating them regarding heart related diseases. Being the executive of an association its message is reducing the number of diseases gives him a reputation that enhances his ability to convince the audience. “As leaders in the health care industry, we are acutely aware of these alarming statistics and are calling on our colleagues and partners in our field to stand together and put an end to tobacco use in America” (Jacobovitz, p. 2701). Jacobovitz uses his professional credibility to send a message regarding tobacco sales. In this message he encourages the collective work of different organization for the benefit of people’s health. Shalom Jacobovitz role in Actelion Pharmaceuticals Company had an impact on his knowledge regarding tobacco. “the American College of Cardiology (ACC) just this year has worked closely with the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids to urge the Food and Drug Administration to further regulate tobacco products, including e-cigarettes” (p. 2701). Jacobovitz is showing an example of what his organization have done and one of the objectives that ACC has brought to the FDA to look into. Jacobovitz (2014) explains how that “If we are serious about improving public health and reducing the skyrocketing health care costs associated with treatment of chronic disease, it is important that we get behind companies like CVS Health and work together in ways we have not before.” (p. 2702). Jacobovitz encourages people to deal with companies like CVS Health because of what it do to help its patient’s health. The author is attempting to alert other pharmacies of the dangers associated with tobacco and bringing to their attention that it is not the ultimate job of a health care service. Jacobovitz talks about what tobacco have for humans and what pharmacy is a contradictable relationship. Smoking have led to a disaster to people’s health. Jacobovitz “despite increased taxation on tobacco products and smoke-free legislation, ciga-rettes are still used by more than 42 million adult Americans (2), and the burden on health care systems is heavy”(P. 2701). The author believes that the legislations and banning tobacco making an affect but the rate of smokers is still high. Jacobovitz is very concern about the health care system mission. His attention is focused on all the health care practices that would have any approval on tobacco. The article aim in using logos is to motivate pharmacies to take a step toward preventing chronic
