It is a common occurrence for individuals to only focus on their weaknesses. We may ask ourselves, “Where do I need to improve”, “what am I doing wrong”. The first place human beings could improve is learning where we excel and what makes our brain tick. Most of us have several quirky traits that we just brush off as “the way I am”. Tom Rath has now given a name to these unique traits, so that we may be able to apply them to our daily lives and use them to advance in life. According to the StrengthsQuest.com assessment, my five strengths are: Individualization, Harmony, Futuristic, Learner, and Focus.
My five strengths give myself (and anyone who is interested in my results) a peek into how my subconscious processes everyday life. For instance, at 4:30 this morning, my alarm was going off. I knew that if I pressed snooze, I would get to sleep for another two hours. However, I also knew that if I got up and went to the gym, I would feel more alert, and make healthier choices throughout the day. I chose the latter, and if I know that if I continue to make that choice, my quality of life will be greatly approved in the coming years. It is that thought process that will get me out of bed before sunrise, encourage me to spend extra time on homework instead of Netflix, and help me to continue improving until I reach the point I am striving for. Being a learner certainly helps with these goals, as well.
Overall, being an individual, harmonizing, futuristic thinking, focused learner is who I am as a whole and without these unique traits, I would not be where I am and would not be on the track to where I am
