Tommy was four at this time. He could remember a man running around shouting about that Abraham Lincoln becoming the President, and war was coming soon! This was Mr.Wilson’s earliest memory. Just as said, the civil war broke out. Is war, and if we zoom through time we will see this same lad as the president of the United States facing another dreadful war. Thomas Woodrow Wilson was born on Dec.28, 1856. Tommy had two older sisters. His father was a minister in a church, and his mother also came from a minister family too. The family lived in Staunton, Virginia. His father, Joseph gave a sermon at a church in Augusta. The church liked him so much they invited him to be their minister at Augusta.

Tommy started to enjoy learning at the age of sixteen. Tommy was a slow reader, but that didn't stop him from enjoying the books he read! When Tommy turned seventeen he went to Davidson college. The Wilsons later moved to North Carolina, the same state that Tommy was studying in. When Tommy came to visit home. He was battling a severe headache, and cold. So instead of going back to college, he stayed home and studied. During the time when Tommy was home he spent happy hours with his father. His father’s friend came to their home once. He was the president of the College of New Jersey. Dr. McCosh told his father that, “ that boy’ll be coming to Princeton, no doubt. “ What Dr.McCosh said became true, when Tommy turned eighteen he got admitted to Princeton. Princeton was almost as old as Harvard. It was an all male school. Many who attended this school were rich sons. Having a good time was more important than getting good grades to them. The lectures at Princeton were dry and boring. The only thing that tommy enjoyed was history. Tommy joined a society. It was called the American Whig Society. It was a society about debating. People would say that they could see the “ fire in his eyes “ while he debated. The first time Tommy a football game was at Princeton, but baseball was still his favorite sport. The university newspaper, The Princetonian also played a big point in Tommy’s life. He liked making decisions. He graduated Princeton with honors, he later went to law school, but always thought about politics. In 1879 Tommy was admitted into the School of Law at the University of Virginia, at Charlottesville. At the age of twenty two, he decided that he wanted to be called by his middle name, Woodrow. Again, Woodrow got the same headaches and colds that would not go away. He went to his house in his second year during the winter holidays. His mother got him to stay back instead of
