Amy has different types of tics. She has both vocal and motor tics. Her eyes roll to the opposite direction, her head would jerk to the one side, which seemed to be the tic she experienced the most. Her vocal tics included her clearing her throat and humming. The first tic came when she was a young girl in ballet, which was the head jerk to one side. These tics turned into a daily tic that she was ashamed of because it could no longer be kept a secret. Even though the first tic came early on in her life, she was not diagnosed until she was twenty-four. Her tics got worse and more intense over the years. Going through all these behaviors and not having any answers until you're in your twenties must have not been easy. I would probably think I am crazy. In the story, she noted that she even had life injurious behaviors which included standing on the edge of the train platform where she would close her eyes and think about jumping over the side. These behaviors went along with Tourette's Disorder as well. That is so scary. I cannot imagine standing on the edge of platforms of balconies, etc. I do not know what I would even do if I saw someone doing that. I mean of course I would want to help, but I think it would just shock me and catch me off guard at first where I might not react fast enough right
