Marx’s Alienated Labor defines as “the process by which human beings become separated from their natural state of being” (Stratification and Poverty lecture notes) or “isolate labor”, it consists of four different stages, loss of product, loss of process, loss of others, and loss of self. Eden has focused on “loss of self” and the general definition of alienated labor. As defined, “loss of self” is known to be “ failing to have a formation of the human senses themselves,” (Asher Horowitz). When Eden is first abducted to the human trafficking organization, she tries numerous times to rebel and escape from this cruelness. However, she is never successful due to the tracking ankle bracelet locked in her ankle, she constantly is being punished by the leaders for escaping. After many attempts and realizing in order to survive in this organization, she requires to obey and conform to their regulations. Slowly, Eden has follow the rules and obey to the orders, she starts to lose her true self. In the beginning, when Eden is following the others of the daily routine of body check and pregnancy test, she tends to rebel and resist in doing so. As defined, social class is “the social structural hierarchical position groups hold relative to the economic, social, political, and cultural resources of society” (Stratification and Poverty lecture notes). There are three components of social class: wealth, prestige, and party. All these components relatively relates to the sense of powerfulness. Wealth links to the economic power; prestige links to social power, receiving all the respect and honor from society; and party links to the power of the politics. Power is the central of determination of strong, it defines as “The ability to get what one wants, in spite of opposition from others” (Stratification and Poverty lecture notes). The ability of receiving power is from gaining all these components of a social class. Bob Gault, who is the central leader of the human trafficking organization, are able to gain power from all these three components of social class. First off, Bob Gault gains a lot of money from the system of sex trafficking which puts him into a higher level in the economic system. He then becomes wealthy, which gives him the power in the economy. Second, Bob Gault is a well known U.S. Marshals, which is a “service of a federal law enforcement agency within the U.S. Department of Justice” (USMS).
