This paper will use the case of Maria at as a specific example of the inequality that transgender individuals face, as well as other cases of discrimination and harassment, to provide a background on the issue of transgender human right in the workplace in Canada. I will use Vanderputten as a specific case example to provide evidence of workplace discrimination. I will address and provide data to show the fact that the transgender population faces double the normal rate of unemployment, that 90% of experiencing harassment on the job, and an unfortunate number of transgender, report a high involvement in underground employment such as prostitution or drug sales.
