Chronic diseases affect a numerous number of individuals around the world. An ischemic is considered as the third leading cause of death in the United States among other chronic diseases. Even though this chronic disease affects every ethnicity, the African American population and females are more likely to have a stroke than any other population (Mir, Al-Baradie, & Alhussainawi). A stroke can range from acute to chronic in its severity. Though some strokes result in the death of an individual many people also survive them. Individuals that survive a stroke have to learn how to do every day activities and basic movements of the body all over again. After an TIA occurs the symptoms begin to deteriorate within a twenty-four-hour period. When a transient ischemic attack occurs, blood flow going to the brain is briefly interrupted. This is caused by blood clotting. Transient ischemic attacks do not cause permanent damages to the brain. A stroke does not happen just because an individual is old in age, there are other reasons that can cause an individual to have a stroke. Ischemic stroke or any form of stroke can happen to individuals who drink heavily, do not exercise or partake in any physical activity, smoke or use illegal drugs, is fifty-five or older, and have a history of the chronic disease stroke within their family (Mir, Al-Baradie, & Alhussainawi). A stroke can range from acute to chronic. An ischemic stroke is the most common among the types of strokes and occurs in most of America’s population. An ischemic stroke affects adults and children. African Americans and females will have an ischemic than any other race. The symptoms of a stroke are; numbness, confusion, dizziness, trouble seeing, lack of confusion, and minor to severe headaches. An ischemic stroke is divided into two parts: thrombotic and embolic. One of the most treatments for helping an individual who has had a stroke or to help someone prevent a stoke is exercise and physical activity. Incorporating exercise and physical activity into the daily routine of a surviving stroke victim so that they can have a lower risk of having one again and gain a healthier lifestyle. Individuals that have never had a stroke or experienced stroke like symptoms should also partake in physical activity and exercise. Knowing and learning the pathophysiology behind a stroke is important because it helps the individual learn as well as know how to prevent an ischemic stroke from happening and it also gives knowledge to learn how to treat surviving stroke
