One reason could be that the high school students attended prior to college did not prepare them for the education and task that would be given to students in college. New data released by the ACT testing organization, show that one in three high school graduates who took the ACT test are not ready for entry level college courses (Bidwell). Only two states (Minnesota and Wisconsin) did more than half the high graduates meet three or more of the ACT benchmarks. Only subject students make gains in was science, Increasing slightly from 31 percent of graduates meeting the benchmark in 2012 to 36 percent in 2013 (Bidwell). This shows that high schools are not fully preparing students for college. Even Jon Erickson, who is the president of ACT said "Our country's commitment to college readiness for all students is a good one but we've got a lot of work to do." That is way before taking a test students should make a test checklist to question themselves to know if they are truly ready for it. Some questions students can ask themselves would be for example, Did the student get a reasonable nights sleep before the test? or if the student attempt to outline every homework problem solution? questions like those will help the student make sure of they have prepared themselves well or not before taking a test. This is where being organized will also help when it comes to taking test. If the student is working on the assignments and completing them and turning them in on time then the students should be getting a better understanding of the subject they are currently on before they have to take a test over
