Some of the families from La Union, who migrated to the United States, engage in courier business. This plays an important role in the lives of transnational families. In this manner, they can travel to Long Island and La Union back and forth. They are able to maintain their transnational ties with families doing this business. Also, this can be seen for both men and women. Although women are more prone in doing lighter job than the men. Moreover, they are able to communicate with their families. Whenever they have to travel to the US, the husband’s family takes care of the business in La Union. On the case of women, their family members look after their house, kids, and the household works that they will leave when travelling. The families of immigrants can be seen in how their children and other family members act. For children, they sometimes use t-shirts that says “New York” or any other places in the US. In addition to this, it can also be seen in their houses. Due to remittances, they renovate their houses and tried to purchase appliances that are not common to have in their locations. There are activities wherein only the males are involved, and there are activities that only the females were involved. One of the examples is when they do skits in response to Father’s Day occasion. The participants were only females, and even the man roles are played by women who dress up like men. Women also, like other families outside United States, are mostly not the first one in the family to migrate in the United States. It is mostly the husband or the father in the family. Women in El Salvador only do what their husbands are telling them to do because they are the one who brings money in the household. When it comes to business, the men sell things that they did not make and women only sells commodities that they personally
