What about Trident gum? Trident gum was introduced in 1960 and manufactured by American Chicle. It originally was a sugared gum that was designed to combat tartar on the teeth. The “tri” meant three enzymes it had that was said to dissolve the tartar, and the “dent” notified the customers that it was made for dental health.
