Tripp started by making a point to say that students should focus on your education before anything else. He gave the example of his own story of thinking that he was going to have a solid career in the NFL and didn’t have to worry about school, but halfway through his college career, he injured himself and was not able to play football again. Thank god he had gone to a school where he could get a great education, or else who knew where he would be in his life! He gave the example of Beavis and Butthead in the conference room and how it made him stand out from the crowd. This is very important in a college students career to learn how to stand out. Most employers are looking for that special thing that an employee can bring to the table that makes the company as a whole stand out. For me, this relates to my degree since I’m a marketing major, and there is a whole bunch of people in the marketing major especially at FSU. I asked my advisor what I could double major in, in order to make me stand out from the rest. Since most people double major in Advertising or Professional Selling, I decided to make myself different and took up a Double Major in Management Information Systems (MIS). I think that by standing out I will be able to move farther in my career and have more options rather than being stuck in one job
