In the story “Trying to Save Piggy Sneed”, John Irving is very sorry for the way he treated Piggy Sneed. One of the many ways he shows this is by trying to create a better ending for Piggy Sneed. He made up a story before he could admit to himself and everyone else that Piggy Sneed was dead. This shows that he couldn't bare the thought of Mr. Sneed being dead so he felt very guilty and probably regretted the way he treated him. Secondly, the narrator mentions he wished he would've realized the cruelty of children, even though he would have regretted it because of the memories. Another thing that he mentioned during that part was wishing that he joined an organization that could have helped save Piggy Sneed. This is another example of him feeling
