The ability of facing hardship is an essential human quality that we all face in our life, and is something that we as humans struggle with. Unfortunate events are always going to happen and sometimes we have to adapt to them and get through it. We are constantly faced with tough times whether it is a death of your loved ones or just having a rough day in school, we have to overcome these tough times and have the ability to become a stronger person. In Mitch Albom’s Tuesdays with Morrie, the author shows us that not everyone is going to live a long happy life and this is evident as Morrie is faced with a fatal disease also known as ALS. He knows that he is going to die soon and wants to share his view of life with everyone before it’s too late. With the threatening reality of Morrie’s illness looming overhead, Mitch learns from him and realizes that it is necessary to live life to the fullest. It is apparent that even with his illness that there is no way Morrie could return to his former self. He is changed forever in his wisdom and knowledge. It seems unfortunate that one would only gain such understanding of life when facing death. Mitch has undoubtedly learned from Morrie that realizing the hardship that one’s life will end soon, one gains the purest appreciation for life. Throughout the book, we can see the relationship between the two characters grow, and Mitch visits Morrie every Tuesday to have chats about life.
