You’re GP or local doctor will carry out blood and urine tests to see if glucose is present, urine doesn’t usually contain glucose but if you do have diabetes the sugar can go through your kidneys then into your urine, also type 1 diabetes will be tested for chemicals in your urine such as ketones. A blood test will be taken before you eat and the after you have fasted for several hours then drink a glucose drink to then measure your glucose levels, if diagnosed as diabetic then will go for further tests to see how your body deals with the glucose.
