is a leading nationwide moving industry that provides and assists in every single needs to its movers from a trailer to packaging materials, includes storage boxes, and storage rooms. To maintain U-Haul’s promised to every community, in Phoenix, U-Haul has over 200 facilities at 45 different locations within city limits to help with moving. Per conversation with our moving associates (personal communication, February 4, 2015) described that 80% unopened canned foods are thrown by our community’s members before their moving or left in the storages, but in actuality the percentage is higher. According to a report by the National Resource Defense Council (NRDC) and Harvard Law School’s Food Law and Policy Clinic (2013) concluded that “Americans consumers are impulsively throwing out food, mostly because of misunderstanding over what expiration dates actually mean” (p. 22). Our commitment to corporate social responsibility, (2015) “We work at never forgetting that quality self-move, self-storage, and closely related services and products are to improve human lives.” To continue this commitment, we can implement a donation program with the help of our community. Once the team established, provide them the important information regarding food handling and safety. For the smooth transaction, we will need a dry storage room where we will store all the donated items. In this storage room we should have large boxes that have weekly dates on it, that will help us to use FIFO (first in first out) method. Moreover, we should make pamphlets and our volunteers will distribute to the community that will provide the awareness of the program. In pamphlets, we should describe the list of acceptable food items, such as: canned fruit, canned vegetables, boxes of cereal, 100% juice, peanut butter, spaghetti, canned tomato sauces, and many others. Besides, this pamphlet also informs our community that if they help us in this program they will receive a 10% discount from us in any service they need like storage space, renting a vehicle or purchasing packing supplies. When we start receiving donations, our volunteer team checks for any opened and rusted cans to discard. Next, unopened can should be check for their “expired dates”, “best before”, or “use by” dates, and keep the ones in the storage boxes that can be used in six months’ time
