Character Analysis Of Louie Zamperini Louie Zamperini the world war 2 veteran and an Olympic athlete. Louie survived at sea for 47 days, was a POW for 2 years and was a PTSD survivor. In the book Unbroken, Laura Hillenbrand uses the life experiences of Louie Zamperini to show the traits of determination and rebellious. Louie Zamperini was a determined young man. Louie had to make sure his friend was ok before he worried about himself. ¨Louie kept his hand on Phils head, stanching the bleeding.¨ (106) Louie was not going to let his friend bleed for any longer then he had to. Louie and other POWs wanted to know what was happening in the war so they would steal newspapers and read them then return them. ¨Louie staked out the quack's office… on the chosen day, the quack and the guards stepped out… ¨ (169).
