342 SUPPORT INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL IN ADULT CARE.

1.1 Explain how infections are spread – There are many ways infection can spread. Eg. from person to person, airborne, surface, contaminated environment, vertical transmission. Infection can spread in various ways and some are very quick to spread. Some infections are direct and indirect contact.

1.2 Explain how breaking the chain of infection minimises the spread of infection. To prevent infection is to break the chain so that infection cannot be spread. There are many ways to stop infection from spreading from person to person.

4.2 Explain how to work with others to identify and implement policies and procedures following an infection outbreak – By having a communication with co-workers and collaborating with each other to follow policies and procedures. Plan carefully on how to work together and achieve safe practice in the event of an outbreak of infection. Staff should ensure they follow all the guidelines and up to date policies. Staff should attend regular training and meetings to implement policies and procedures on the infection outbreak. Staff should follow the guidance and understand their role and responsibilities.
