1.1 - identify outcomes to be achieved through sharing knowledge and good practice One of the outcomes to be achieved through sharing knowledge and good practice is the best quality of care provided to service users. When knowledge is shared between those involved with the service user within a partnership, this enables there to be a consistency of care for the individual which ensures that the service user is achieving the best outcomes. For example, when an individual has moved from one service to another, when the previous service shares knowledge of the individual’s behaviour, triggers and other relevant information about the service user, this ensures that the service user settles into the new service …show more content…
Evaluate processes for sharing knowledge and good practice within and outside the organisation One process for sharing knowledge and good practice is through team meetings. This allows all staff members the opportunity to collaborate and share knowledge and good practice. Team meetings do not always work as some members of staff may be unable to attend, or the meeting is at a time when the service is unable to pause the service; for example, within a service in which an individual receives 1:1 care 24/7. Also, within team meetings, often some staff members feel unable to speak up within a group setting, which leads them to be unable to share knowledge and good practice. Another process for sharing knowledge and good practice within and outside of the organisation is through electronic software or intranet, such as Care Control software. This allows daily notes, records, incidents, care plans and risk assessments to be on an electronic software which allows staff and all those involved in a service users care to access these documents and read all relevant information about the service user. The software can also be accessed by relevant individuals from outside of the organisation, such as social workers and family members, which promotes sharing knowledge. By having electronic documents this allows staff to remain up to date with a service users care plan, risk assessment and staff can read all notes and incidents about the service user which enables staff to provide the best quality of care as they are informed and have live updates about the service user, rather than having to find physical paperwork and often physical care plans are not usually physically accessible due to confidentiality. However, electronic records can be difficult due to occasional technical difficulties. 4.2 Research benchmarks for the sharing of knowledge and good practice Benchmarking is a tool used to improve the quality of the service which develops how best practice and knowledge
