Education in the United States follows a similar structure compared to other countries education systems. The United States education system has three tiers. These three tiers in order are elementary, middle and secondary school (high school). These tiers consist over twelve years of a student's life. The student after has an optional choice of completing a postsecondary education program called college. The United States also provides special education for individuals with disabilities. Their education system is primary broken up into primary, secondary and third level. Primary is our elementary system compared to Ireland and Secondary is middle and high school level (4). Their primary level is divided into years one through six. Their secondary level is divided into junior and senior year. The third level is Universities, bachelor degrees, hotel training, and many more. Their third level is compared to our postsecondary level of schooling. When it comes to the government and education, education is a top priority. Education is one of the top three funding programs in the government. The country funds every single school in Ireland. They are not funded by the state and individuals with disabilities tend not to go to private schools because of funding. In Ireland they call their schools for special education “special schools.” Their special schools are 100 percent with individuals with disabilities. Just like the United States, Ireland created a act for individuals with disabilities. This act is called Education for persons with special educational needs ("Special needs education"). This act is very similar the IDEA act in the United States. Some individuals are put in the mainstream program at the start, but at the end they might end up in a special school. In Ireland special schools are under a religion denomination. This is odd to me because this is very uncommon in the United States. Since religion schools are not funded by the government, they have less resources for individuals with disabilities. Since these schools do not have the resource, the student cannot get the education that they
