Mattie Stepanek, a famous author, once said, “Unity is strength. When there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.” In The Inquisitor's Tale, Jeanne, William, and Jacob overcome tedious obstacles throughout the novel. Along the way, they meet new individuals such as Etienne and develop a close friendship with one another. They work together and obtain copious amounts of teamwork. For example, when thousands of copies of the Talmud were being burnt, the children ended up saving a copy by using teamwork and perseverance to achieve their goals. ‘Hebrew,’ says William. ‘This one’s in Hebrew’(277). This quotation demonstrates that when the children worked together, they conquered the problem that they tried to solve. William’s determination to find one of the five Hebrew Bibles left with his friends shows that he was able to persevere with his intricate challenges. The author wanted the reader to understand that William, along with others, can work together with people to achieve their objectives. Perennially, when William, Jacob, Jeanne, Blanche, and Gwenforte are sinking in the quicksand, they all hang on and pull each other out one by one. “One crooked neighbor, pulling another, up from the depths”(325). This quotation articulates that with the help of others, one can succeed by having the mindset that working together can defeat any difficult task. The group's determination to help each other ended up saving their lives as they were sinking into the quicksand. The author chose to include this scene to provide evidence that when working with one another, individuals can showcase their diverse problem-solving methods to solve the overall problem. William now understands that teamwork can defeat any obstacle because working with one another
