Universal Healthcare and Political Polarization: A Professional’s Perspective Introduction Universal health coverage has become a conundrum in today’s society, with individuals divided on the debate. The main reason for this is the increased gap between liberal and conservative ideologies. Many focus on the government’s role in the adoption of the healthcare system, while ignoring the perspective of healthcare professionals on the action. Few debates have centered on the implications of a different healthcare system. What condition would the quality of healthcare be? How long would the average person wait to see a professional? All are essential questions for the execution of a government-run healthcare system. Greer (Phd) and Mendez (MDH) have a similar hypothesis, confirming that UHC is a political predicament, further analyzing the impact of political ideologies on the debate (2015). Mari Young (March 6, 2024) agrees that there is more work to be done in the medical field concerning insurance (personal communications). She shared her sympathy with those kicked to the curb from the hospital because their insurance cannot cover it, usually while they are still bedridden (M. Young, personal communication, March 6, 2024). Additionally, she expressed her anger toward the government’s greed in the medical field, pertaining to the up charge of medicines, some so pricey that American citizens are willing to travel to Canada in order to get life-saving medications (M. Young, personal communication, March 6, 2024). Discussion After acquiring the collection of resources, a conclusion has been reached. With the insight of Mari Young, it is clear that although the majority of citizens are passionate about changing the current system, it is unlikely to happen. Part of this is because of the money the government is obtaining from the medical field. The rise in prices of medical stays and medicines only benefits the government while harming its citizens.
