The setting of the performance was Rudder Theatre. The stage was filled with empty seats and music stands. There was a harp and piano on the stage before the musicians walked out. On our right side of the stage, there was a Texas flag, and on the left an American one. The back of the stage had a lighted pink hue to it. Prior to the start of the performance, I observed crowd members conversing with one another and catching up with their friends. Timothy B. Rhea, got his job. Apparently, Rhea was unusually young for the job, so it was quite significant for him to be hired. The former director was so pleased with his decision to hire Rhea that he said, "it was probably the best decision of my life." Rhea invited many of his former students to play in this concert too, so seeing them come back was really cool. Dr. Rhea also invited his friend, Professor James F. Keene to conduct a portion of the performance. He was the former Director of Bands for the University of Illinois School of Music. Once the musicians took the stage, I noticed each of the different instruments. There were clarinets, horns, various percussion instruments, flutes, oboes, bassoons, trombones, clarinets, saxophones, euphoniums, trumpets, tubas, and a piccolo.
