Hook: A marble tomb stands upon a hill’s peak. When people awake, they glare at the tomb’s beauty. Though that, “tomb,” is no ordinary tomb. It’s the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Transition: Though, that beauty comes at a cost.
Thesis Statement: My discussion will be helping to discover what the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is, how it was made, when it was made, the roles of the Sentinels, and what importance it serves to America.
What is it? -
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is more or less a regular marble tomb; however it serves more of a purpose than any old tomb. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a burial place for all of the soldiers, whom’s their bodies have never been recovered nor been buried properly. So, to solve that problem and to give those soldiers a memorial to remember them, Congress approved to have the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier part of the Arlington National Cemetery, and build it overlooking Washington D.C. from a hilltop.
What’s the Cost? -
One of the costs of having such beauty is it has different Sentinels which are on duty 24/7, and have been doing so every minute of every day since 1937.
