Forcing a young adult into service can interfere with their goals and plans during this important step in their life. Voluntary soldiers will be more engaged in their duty and won't have to focus on other priorities, such as school. Forced military service creates many opportunities and has several benefits such as physical fitness and free education; on the other hand, it may compromise the quality of the army and violate free will, which is what our country's principles were founded on. If everybody were forced to complete one year of active duty, it would take a great hit on the quality of our military. Drafting soldiers makes the army less efficient and lowers the chemistry and connections between soldiers. Involuntary soldiers with little preparedness might not have an enjoyable experience and build friendships within their group. America was built on free will and drafting somebody to the army would contradict our own principles. The draft would violate millions of people's rights. It is stated by the 13th Amendment to give all people protection against involuntary servitude, making the draft unconstitutional. Life-changing experiences like the army can have significant effects such as trauma, and not everybody is ready for this. It wouldn't be fair to young adults who spent their entire childhood in school, preparing for college or finding a career who would not give the same loyalty and effort as a voluntary soldier. Although you may build meaningful connections during your time, they can also be lost any day because of war. Drafting soldiers takes away opportunities that change lives and leads to disorders such as PTSD and anxiety from all the traumatic experiences that are inevitable in the
