Type: Talk of my interests Professor Barbara King encompassed a good majority of qualities needed in presentation as described by Jean Luc Doumont. Barbara King's lecture was based on the idea that animals paying attention to their dead and has collected enough data with others to suggest the grief "is a much more widespread process" than previously though. She goes on provide examples of various animals including elephants and baboons. King also emphasizes the importance of taking time and not jumping to conclusions based on a few minutes of observation or video. She appeared to tackle each of the three main qualities, adapting to your audience, maximize signal-to-noise ratio, and use effective redundancy. Professor King came to the lecture wearing a solid blood red dress with black leggings. She limited the noise from her appearance to keep the focus on the presentation. She provided a printed copy of central message before the presentation and continued to repeat her main point during the presentation. Also, she kept her PowerPoint slides very simple with white text on a black background and stood in one place to the right of the podium, minimizing movement to keep the focus on the PowerPoint and then on her. In addition, Professor King’s used very vivid images videos with audio, involving the audience on the visual and audio dimensions. The occasional drawback to her presentation was that she would often cross her legs, indicating that she was really comfortable with the audience, which can is good, but detracts from the seriousness of the presentation.
