Urbanization in
Greenwood
Although Greenwood, is not nearly as big as places like Atlanta, Georgia, we still may be at a risk for the effects of urbanization on our weather. Let’s look at three locations that are at risk in Greenwood!
1) Greenwood Park Mall
1) Greenwood Park Mall
How have humans impacted this area?
Humans have totally transformed the area by putting a huge mall (and expanding it also).
After the central mall was built, the area around it was also created to have more shops and restaurants, which took away the natural part of the area and made it artificial.
1) Greenwood Park Mall
There is a lot of heat in the Greenwood Park
Mall, because of the large population that goes in and out on a daily basis. With such a large population, there must be a lot of heat generated through not only cars that are parked, but lights that are needed. This heat is detrimental to the weather, as when it is mixed with cold air, may be causing the storms we see. This heating may cause water sources surrounding the mall to heat and artificially evaporate.

Humans have impacted this area because of the amount of air conditioning/heating systems that cause heat in the air. This in turn causes the water sources surrounding and the plants surrounding to have an abnormal and artificial hot environment so that 3) Ray Skillman

Southside
Ray Skillman Southside has a building which is extremely well-equipped with a lot of amenities. The environment inside is extremely cool and thus I know they use a considerable amount of air conditioning. This contributes to the fact that plants and water surrounding this building aren’t able to properly circulate the air because of the air conditioning that causes pressure on the environment. Messing with the environment in what we think may be small ways truly makes an impact on various cycles.
Living Organisms
Role of living organisms
Trees and plants generally take away a large amount of heat and smog that occurs in areas with great populations. In Greenwood, many places don’t have trees and have large populations which certainly causes urbanization, maybe just not to the level of bigger cities.
Cycle
Although we may not think much of the
Carbon Cycle, it certainly
