Urinetown was my second play I’ve ever been too. It was my first musical. Going into it, I was skeptical if I would like it because I usually don’t like theatre plays. I usually prefer movies over theatre. Movies you get the special effects and it just seems more realistic than a theatre play. I did enjoy urinetown. It made me laugh at times and it was enjoyable. It was very creative, and the songs weren’t too much. They weren’t drawn out too long. I think another reason why I enjoyed this play is because I went into it with an open mind. The first play I went to was because I took appreciation of theatre my sophomore year and the class was just boring and serious and so I went to the play with a closed mind. I ultimately failed that class and now I’m in your class. The style you teach and personality you have has changed the way I think about theatre. Some of those topics are the justice system, free market, social irresponsibility, populism, government, corporate delinquency, and civil politics. I’m a person that’s very interested in those topics. I’m a history major. I don’t usually go to musical plays because I used to think that they were boring, and I wouldn’t be interested. Taking appreciation of theatre has gave me a better understanding of theatre. Theatre is about what surrounds, and the focal point is us.
