I choose utilitarianism as the most important guiding principal to an ethical situation. This path was important to be because I strongly believe it is important to keep employees satisfied in order to obtain goals and reach the needed outcomes. Utilitarianism focuses on ensuring the greatest number of people affected is happy about the outcome of a situation. In other words, we should behave in a way that results in pleasure instead of unhappiness. The goal is to make the most people happy when considering decisions to be made. As with any arrangements there are ups as well as downs. One advantage to this principal is how straightforward the results are. Bending the rules multiple times may give off the impression of others that is acceptable under any circumstance to break the rules set in place. Another disadvantage is the amount of time it takes to consider a decision. The decision would have to be weighted to ensure the outcome makes the majority of people happy while at the same time following all the necessary laws. In order to be successful, a great leadership team must take advantage of guiding principles. In my opinion, utilitarianism is a great leadership took because it considers the happiness of the entire group of people. It is very important to be able to keep the employees happy in order to achieve the best results. A leader must think about how his or her decision could affect the happiness or unhappiness of the work forces. The decision should be make with the thought of "what ought a leader do?" For example, if there is a lack of supplies or personnel needed to complete the task, it would be beneficial to consider the entire companies lack of supply rather than one group to ensure more people are satisfied rather than a small amount.
