Upon completion of the VIA Institute Character Strengths Survey, my top ten strengths are the following: 1) perspective (wisdom), 2) appreciation of beauty and excellence (transcendence), 3) self-regulation (temperance), 4) spirituality (transcendence), 5) curiosity (wisdom), 6) prudence (temperance), 7) hope (transcendence), 8) judgment (wisdom), 9) humor (transcendence), and 10) honesty (courage). The character strengths that may be beneficial in my future work as a Speech-Language Pathologist are perspective (wisdom), appreciation of beauty and excellence (transcendence), curiosity (wisdom), prudence (temperance), hope (transcendence), judgment (wisdom), and aspects of self-regulation (temperance). Perspective will be beneficial when assessing and examining various disorders of speech and language as well as determining the most appropriate route of intervention because it’s important to have perspective when making those decisions as well as having perspective when providing wise counsel to my clients and their caregivers. …show more content…
It will provide me with a deep appreciation for my clients and their various modes of communication. Curiosity will be beneficial because as a future Speech-Language Pathologist, I will be given the opportunity to use the signs and symptoms my clients present with, make a diagnosis based on that information, and then carefully select treatment methods to provide skilled intervention. Curiosity will especially be useful during the initial client and/or caregiver interview process in which I am gaining case history. Prudence will be beneficial, especially when providing counseling to my clients and their
