Approximately eight million Americans today are vegan, which means eight million people are putting their health at risk. A vegan diet consists of no animal products. This means no meat, eggs, cheese, or milk are consumed by vegans. Super strict vegans also don't wear clothes that contain wool, leather, or silk. Vegans don't use or eat anything that is associated with animals due to various health, environmental, or ethical reasons. However, this thought process is controversial because without animals in the human diet, people are harming their bodies. There are healthy alternative diets that will keep the body in shape, while getting all of the nutrients that it needs. An animal-based diet with controlled eating, exercise, and choosing the right food, will keep one's body as slim as a vegan diet would, without putting health at risk. Although animals are cute and friendly, people cannot survive without them. It's more important for the human population to stay healthy than trying to save the animals that don't live half the life that people do. Vegans need to realize that without the nutrients provided by animals, they are only hurting themselves. Supplements do provide the nutrients found in animals, but they are factually not as effective as the meat we get from animals. A vegan would need to take multiple supplements a day in order to obtain all of the nutrients that their body isn't getting from not eating animal products. If animals are eliminated from the human diet, then the human population may decrease in size and lifespan. People cannot survive without the nutrients from meat, especially new, developing babies. It is not safe to live off of a vegan diet. It is very hard for vegans to consume the proper amount of calories and being hungry will reduce the amount of energy they have during the day, thus exposing them to physical and mental illness. Many studies show that perhaps the vegans are putting their personal values or preferences above their health without even realizing it.
