In America the act of victimization is nothing new. Where you single out one or a group of people to mistreat them out of spite or cruelty. The concept has been around since slavery till this day. Raising the issue of victimization for minorities from the criminal justice system because their race. The criminal justice system has a massive impact on a person’s life because of the hard punish it has existed on crime. It all starts in the hand of the police, making the stop and arrest on a person to start the process for a person’s future as a criminal. The problem with this is if they target minorities solely on their race and biases that creates an unfair and injustice system in America. (In a study it is demonstrated the influence media has in society opinion on law enforcement and how the police react towards society. The news channels or different type news outlet do not have a high impact on people who has or has not been victims. This also include sources like t.v. show such as “Law and order” or “Cops”. The media does not affect two out of the three focal point the article is concerned about. 1) confidence in the police, 2)police Fairness, 3)police use of excessive force. It is shown in table 1 that the media has any impact it would be in the police use of excessive force. The table shows 1.98 out 4 for the confident in police use of excessive force,3.02 in fairness of the police and 3.13 in confidence of the police (Callana, 10) While people don’t really get influence by the police they still are victimize especially minorities. In a table 2 it demonstrated how much minorities are victimized compare to whites. While over 200 victims out of 800+ for Hispanic and Blacks and for Whites it was 60 out 260 (13). To put into perspective what minorities deal with in many processing in the criminal justice system. In the article “What It’s Like to Be Black in the Criminal Justice System” by Andrew Kahn and Chris Kirk, address 8 problems Black deal with. The two-major victimization that sets the process into motion is a vehicle stop and drug arrest. Implicit bias exist within everyone shows how Black are looked as criminals. In the Bereau of justice statistic shows that blacks and Hispanic were 6.5 out of 8 compare to Whites 2.5 out of 8 likely to get pulled over. Not including if they are arrested or given citations. At the same time the rates for drug arrest between Whites and blacks have always been higher for Blacks. Up to 2010 the rates are more than double for Blacks being arrest than Whites.
