Conflicts between team members In reviewing the Vila Health: Adverse Event (n.d.) media presentation, conflicts among the team members were evident throughout the presentation. To begin with, the social worker offered to be present during the procedure to advocate for the patient given the patient's history of aphasia and increased speech related issues during times of stress. Neither the radiologist nor physician contacted the social worker related to the offer of assistance. Another team conflict noted in the presentation was the intimidation of Nurse Emile by Dr. Lawrence. When Emile noted that the site markings were not visible, Dr. Lawrence continued with the chest tube insertion and exclaimed: “Let’s go!”. The physician throughout the procedure appeared to Emile to be in a hurry and was unapproachable. Emile wrote in her statement that she did not want to make Dr. Lawrece look bad and was concerned about working with her in the future. Because of the unapproachable manner of Dr. Lawrennce, Emile did not feel free to advocate for the patient or halt the procedure until the site marking was found.
