The Outsiders had a visible theme of violence in it. This book was quite violent, for example, when Johnny murdered Bob the Soc. I know that Johnny murdered Bob to save Ponyboy, but it was still violent. One more example is when the greasers and Socs fought. This part was not as violent as other scenes, but I thought that this contributed to the theme of violence. Dally being killed after robbing the store was violent as well. They were punching and kicking each other. This isn’t graphic, but it is violent in my opinion. During the fight, a lot of people got hurt. This was brutal in my opinion. Ponyboy was hurt during the fight. That should not have happened to a 14-year old who doesn’t like fighting. The Socs and greasers fighting added to the theme of violence in The Outsiders. One more example of the theme of violence in The Outsiders is when Dally got shot to death. Dally got shot because he was running from the cops. This part was sorrowful and wild. The reason he was running from the cops was because he had robbed a store. In my opinion, this part was intense.
