Literature set a huge president for the outcome and establishment of the American West. Stories of outlaws, violence, and unconventional justice, were myths written by authors such as William “Buffalo Bill” Cody. All of these stories made the settlers wonder if the West was still a land of opportunity, or a paradise lost. Even though the writings were false, they dramatically shaped the west, by producing real violence among Native Americans and white settlers.
