I have experienced many holidays and celebrations throughout my life, but the one time of year that I look forward to the most is the Christmas season. During the Christmas season everything changes, people who are usually serious and say philippics to people become waggish and fun. In my family the aficionado of the Christmas season is my mother who completely engulfing herself into the persona of Santa Clause, wearing the panache of Santa Clause becoming insouciant and happy. Every year during Christmas time, my family goes to the garage and tries to salvage the Christmas decorations, ensconced and immured last year. My mother is very picky about the organization of the ornaments on the tree, the ornaments must be commensurate, in a certain matrix, and there is always one diaphanous star at the top. A game my family likes to play is to do the most work around the house during the Christmas season used as a touchstone of the value of the gift you will be receiving, the winner of this game receives an emolument of a greater present in quid pro qwo of their hard work . December 16th of every year, is when my mom and dad decide to go buy our Christmas gifts, mostly our mom alone since my dad is horrible at keeping secrets and buying presents. On Christmas Eve, my family and I always go to midnight mass at our local church, since Christmas is a very sacrosanct tradition in my religion.
