Master’s Degree Internship Application
1. What uniquely qualifies you to serve people as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor? Over an 8 month period from November 2016 to July 2017, I had the tremendous opportunity to conduct on the job training at the North Salem Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) office. This internship consisted of gaining the knowledge and experience as a Human Services Assistant. Further, I was able to receive experiential training, and practice as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. This experience was instrumental in guiding me towards my current placement as a Graduate Student in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling at Western Oregon University. As a result, I am aware of some of the unique challenges and opportunities presented in the Vocational Rehabilitation field and strive to serve in the capacity of a counselor.

The previous task involved approximately 300 people whereas the current task was over 1,200. In organizing this task I proceeded in the following sequence: First, I conducted an after action review of the previous integration I had conducted. This review included (1) what went right; (2) what went wrong; (3) how the process could be improved; and, (4) improvement input from impacted sources (the Command Teams, the Primary Care Physicians, and the Soldiers). Next, I wrote a draft for a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) guide. As part of this draft SOP, I included proposed timelines for action and phased system tracking that allowed for proposed timelines when certain requirements were to be
