Summary

The main character Wade Watts, is an 18-year-old boy who loves video games. His parents died of bullet wounds and drug overdose respectively. Wade hates living on Earth because it is trash now compared to the past. However, his escape from reality is OASIS (Ontologically Anthropocentric Sensory Immersive Simulation). And since James Halladay's contest started, he has worked his hardest to find the easter egg. That is the only way he can leave the "stacks". (stacks are mobile homes literally stack upon each other). Mrs. Glisson and Aech (Aech is another fellow gamer) are the only two friends he has. They both love things in the 80s (especially video games), they both are very interested in James Halladay, and they both beat Ir0k respectively. However, not everyone respects Wade like Aech. Because Wade was only a level 3, people considered him a noob. He was very serious when it came to research, he took it very seriously. It was then that he realized that the first clue made sense in terms of it being broken down. After a few stops and hiking through the woods, he finally founded the Tomb of Horrors. Luckily, he had a module to his advantage. And after finding key items he never had before, he felt more and more confident. Then he met the demi-lich Acererak. However, he was caught off guard when Acererak spoke and commanded to play joust against him. After Acererak beat him in the first game, Wade came back and defeated him 2-1. As a reward, he received a Copper Key. After receiving it, he reads it and immediately knows what to do. Next thing he knows, a silhouette shows up. It turns out to be Art3mis. Just when things are looking up, Art3mis realized that Wade lied about Acererak battle and traps him in the dungeon for a while. Thankfully, after a cooldown and some helpful tips.
