Waegal’s article “Case Routinization in Investigative Police Work” discusses the way detectives handle their large volume of cases. Detectives are guided and constrained by two organizational standards, submitting investigative reports and producing arrests. Thereby a detective will organize his casework and his time minimizing the amount of work while maximizing the number of cases he is able to complete through arrest.
